The fastest way to reach Oaxaca from the nation’s capital is via the toll highway known as the Mexico-Puebla-Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca Highway and Superhighway. The distance between the two cities is over 480 kilometers, which can be covered in less than 6 hours. From Chiapas, the Yucatán Peninsula, Tabasco, and Veracruz, take the Mexico-Puebla-Orizaba-Villahermosa Highway (150D) and then the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca Superhighway (135D).

The public transportation companies serving the Mexico City-Oaxaca route offer first-class (ADO) and second-class (FYPSA, AU, among others) services. There are departures every day at various times. From the southern part of the country, the most prominent lines are ADO and OCC.
